Welcome!
I am a Young Professional at the World Bank Group
I received my PhD in Economics from the National School of Development at Peking University in July 2024, and was a visiting student at Columbia University in 2023. But more importantly, my work has always been grounded in the real economy.
My interests lie in industrialization and private sector development in developing countries, with a particular focus on how firms grow, how industries evolve, and how governments can support structural transformation.
Rather than approaching development primarily through econometric techniques or abstract modeling, I am deeply interested in understanding production, business strategy, industrial organization, and the practical realities faced by firms on the ground.
During my PhD, I conducted more than 300 interviews with senior executives of leading Chinese companies, entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized firms, and government officials at multiple levels. This experience gave me strong exposure to how industries actually operate: how firms make investment decisions, respond to policy, build capabilities, and compete in changing markets.
Beyond economics, I have a deep interest in history, geography, and the wider world. I especially enjoy visiting local museums in small towns, where economic change, social memory, and regional history often come together most vividly.
